Fried Oreos, rides, pig races and more: Bluegrass Fair set to open Thursday

Ready for fried Oreo cookies, rides, games, pig races and other attractions at the 55th annual Lexington Lions Club Bluegrass Fair?

Bluegrass Fair workers recently set up rides and made preparation for the fair, which opens Thursday night.

The fair runs through July 24. Gates open at 5 p.m. Monday through Friday, 3 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at Masterson Station Park, 3051 Leestown Road. Admission is $6 (cash only), free for ages 6 and younger. Ride wristbands are $20.

In addition to the rides, some of the popular attractions include a petting zoo and pig races. Nick Jamerson, part of the country duo Sundy Best will perform in the Lions Pavilion on Friday.

In 1961, the Lexington Lions Club held their first fair at The Red Mile. In 1976 the fair moved to Masterson Station Park and since 1996 the Lions Club has contracted with professional management for the fair.
