Time for the GOP convention

The Republican Party kicks off their convention in Cleveland. Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., will speak Tuesday. Kentucky state Sen. Ralph Alvarado is scheduled to speak 9 p.m. Wednesday. The convention culminates Thursday with Trump likely accepting the party’s nomination to become president.

Hey, let’s try a new restaurant, or 40

More than 40 local restaurants will will offer $26 multi-course meals during Lexington Restaurant Week. Through July 30, restaurants will feature special menu offerings ranging from grilled eggplant Parmesan to lobster crepes. Call your favorite restaurant for a reservation. BreyerFest is at the post

Fans of the collectible model horses will gather at the Kentucky Horse Park for seminars, demos, shopping and more. Events are 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday. Single-day tickets are $15. (Breyerhorses.com)

Bug out at Raven Run

Little explorers (K-5th grade) will travel across Raven Run Nature Sanctuary in search of insects. Starting at 10 a.m., participants will learn about the kind of insects found at Raven Run and discover how these creatures transform over time. Time for one more funnel cake

It’s the last day of the Lexington Lions Club Bluegrass Fair at Masterson Station Park on Leestown Road. Admission is $6, free for ages 6 and younger; a ride wristband is $20. (TheBluegrassFair.com)
