A fatal stabbing Wednesday night on North Martin Luther King Boulevard might have been self-defense, Lexington police said.
Timothy Lee Jones, 40, died at 7:36 p.m. Wednesday after being stabbed during a fight, the Fayette County coroner’s office said Thursday.
The man who stabbed Jones was his 47-year-old neighbor, according to Lexington police. The man told officers that he and Jones had an ongoing dispute. An argument escalated Wednesday and became violent, he told police.
The man told officers that Jones approached him and threatened him with a rifle, according to police. The man told police he defended himself with a pocket knife.
Jones died shortly after arriving at University of Kentucky Chandler Hospital, according to the coroner’s office.
An autopsy was completed at the state medical examiner’s office Thursday morning in Frankfort, according to the coroner’s office. The cause of death was multiple “sharp-force injuries.”
The investigation remains open. No charges have been filed.
