FRANKFORT — Police have obtained an arrest warrant for a man they say was involved in a fatal shooting Monday.
The warrant charges Frank Robert Witkowski, 44, with complicity to commit murder in the death of Obie Murphy, 40, of Shelbyville.
Frankfort police Maj. Fred Deaton said the complaint alleges that Witkowski "provided assistance" to the person who caused Murphy's death.
No one else has been charged in Murphy's slaying. Deaton said police were looking for a person of interest, but he would not identify that person or discuss his or her role in the shooting.
The shooting occurred about 1:15 p.m. Monday on Thistlewood Avenue. Deaton said there was an altercation at the residence, but he declined to release details, including how the men knew each other.
Murphy was pronounced dead about 2:30 p.m. Monday at University of Kentucky Chandler Hospital.
A second shooting victim, Gregory Bell, 54, was taken to Frankfort Regional Medical Center and has been released.
Police interviewed Witkowski on Monday but did not have probable cause to arrest him then, Deaton said.
Witkowski's last known address is in Detroit. Deaton said investigators there have been notified. Witkowski has been entered as a fugitive with the National Crime Information Center. The U.S. Marshals Service's Fugitive Task Force is assisting with the case.
Deaton said a full-size white van with a green stripe and Michigan license plates could be connected to the slaying.
