NICHOLASVILLE —Three construction workers suffered non-life-threatening injuries Wednesday when a wood structure collapsed on East Brannon Road, Nicholasville Fire Chief Mark Case said.
Shortly before 3 p.m., firefighters responded to a call at a construction site where The Avenue at Nicholasville apartment complex is being built. That's east of Brannon Crossing shopping center.
The structure that fell was a mail kiosk that would house mailboxes for future apartment tenants, Case said.
"A gust of wind picked up the roof and laid it down," Case said.
One man was trapped but not pinned beneath the roof, while two co-workers were outside the roof, he said.
Nicholasville and Jessamine County firefighters worked to get the man out from beneath the roof. The three workers were taken by ambulance to University of Kentucky Chandler Hospital, Case said.
