A man had to have part of a leg removed after an accident Monday morning near the site of a new Copper River Grill under construction in Nicholasville.
Stephan Warren was listed in good condition Monday afternoon at University of Kentucky Chandler Hospital, a spokeswoman said.
Charbel Joseph, a developer of Keene Centre commercial retail development, where the restaurant is located, said Warren's leg was caught in a curb-and-gutter concrete machine that contains an augur-like screw. Warren's leg somehow became entangled in the machine.
Joseph wasn't sure which leg was injured, but "from what I understand, he lost from 5 inches below his knee down. So he lost his entire foot and some of his shin."
The accident happened shortly before 8 a.m. Monday at the site on the U.S. 27 Bypass across from Lowe's, according to the Nicholasville Fire Department, which assisted emergency medical workers at the scene.
