Jessamine County: Health Dept. receives grant

Logging some miles
The snow and freezing weather have kept Nicholasville's Bob Oakley and his vintage Chevy truck busy hauling firewood throughout Jessamine County. In November and December, Oakley delivered more than 60 truckloads to Nicholasville and Wilmore.

The Jessamine County Health Department has received a $10,000 grant to address and tackle health disparities in Jessamine County.

The "Promoting Health Equity in Kentucky Project" funding will be used to support the development and activities of a community coalition, including staffing the coalition, a health-needs assessment, program planning and professional development of health department staff.

The coalition will also give a greater voice in guiding the community and the health department in reducing health disparities through focusing on the social, economic and environmental conditions that might affect health standards among various cultures and in minority populations.
