Repair work on U.S. 68 begins

Repair work on a portion of U.S. 68 in Jessamine County began Friday, the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet said.

Since Jan. 3, both lanes have been closed from Ky. 33 (Pekin Pike) to the Mercer County line. A portion of the road collapsed near there.

Repairs were originally scheduled for Monday but were delayed because of the winter storm earlier this week.

The work will take about two weeks. The road will remain closed until the repairs are completed.

A suggested alternate route for motorists is to take Blue Grass Parkway to U.S. 127 to Harrodsburg.

All work is scheduled on a tentative basis and is subject to change depending on weather conditions, emergencies and other factors beyond the control of the state Department of Highways.
