No serious injuries were reported after a crash involving two commercial trucks that slowed traffic to a crawl on Lexington Road in Jessamine County during Tuesday morning rush hour.
The wreck happened shortly after 8 a.m. at Lexington Road and Park Central Avenue, near the Boot Store. Northbound and southbound Lexington Road were reduced to one lane before the trucks could be removed.
Assistant Police Chief John Branscum said a flatbed truck was in the center turn lane of Lexington Road waiting to turn when a garbage truck pulled into the lane behind it. The driver of the garbage truck "realized he didn't have time to stop" and tried to swerve away, but crashed into the back of the flatbed truck.
The garbage truck driver was taken to a Lexington hospital to be checked out, but wasn't seriously injured, Branscum said.
One northbound lane, the center turn lane and one southbound lane were closed for about an hour and 15 minutes while police investigated.
