Ongoing national scandals of sex abuse at public institutions have caused the Jessamine County school district to revisit its policy and suggest strong, clear language about boundaries in coach-athlete relationships.
The proposed new policy restricts coaches from transporting student-athletes in their personal vehicles for any reason — a practice superintendent Lu Young said was already in violation of a policy requiring transportation only in board-insured vehicles. It also prohibits a coach from being alone in a vehicle with a single student.
