Investigators say there is new evidence that could tie several cases of arson in Lexington's Hill Rise Drive area in December and January could be tied to fires that were set in Nicholasville about the same time.
Lexington Fire Battalion Chief Ed Davis said on Monday that Lexington fire officials were working with investigators from Nicholasville. He said investigators have identified multiple "viable suspects" but need input from witnesses before an arrest can be made.
Late last year, several suspicious fires were set in vehicles and outbuildings in Nicholasville on properties around Stephens Drive, near Lexington Road, Nicholasville Fire Chief Charles Brumfield said. There have been no arrests in those cases.
Davis said he could not talk in detail about evidence that might link the cases.
