For the second time in two days, Nicholasville police have charged an adult with abusing a child.
Audrey M. Rodriguez, 49, of Nicholasville was charged Monday with second-degree assault.
The investigation began April 10 after Nicholasville police received information from University of Kentucky Chandler Hospital that a 10-month-old girl had been admitted there with injuries consistent with abuse. It was later determined that the girl was in the care of Rodriguez.
Officer Kevin Grimes, spokesman for the Nicholasville police, said Tuesday that the girl had to have surgery to repair an injury to her right elbow. The girl, who was not identified, is home with her parents, police said.

On Sunday, in a separate case, Nicholasville police charged Eric D. Arthur, 25, with first-degree assault against his 11-week-old son. That arrest also culminated from a tip from UK Hospital, which reported suspicious head trauma. The boy remains at the hospital.
