One of the oldest buildings in Nicholasville was described as a complete loss after a fire tore through the two-story structure Thursday night.
Nicholasville Fire Department Battalion Chief David Johns said emergency crews received a call at 5:19 p.m. that a downtown apartment building was engulfed in flames.
Flames were coming out of the front door and windows when crews arrived at the building at North First and Walnut streets, which had been converted into an apartments.
A woman was pulled from the building by a former Nicholasville firefighter and taken to a local hospital, Johns said. He did not know the extent of her injuries.
The building had undergone changes over the years, including a major renovation about 25 years ago after a fire destroyed much of it, Johns said.
As of late Thursday, firefighters did not know the cause of the blaze.
