A woman died and the man with whom she was riding was charged with DUI after a crash in Jessamine County on Monday afternoon.

Marlene Chaffin, 56, of Nicholasville was a passenger in a Chevrolet S-10 pickup that ran off the road at 4:30 p.m. in the 3100 block of Frankfort-Ford Road, said Sgt. Anthony Purcell of the Jessamine County Sheriff's Office.

Chaffin was thrown out and pinned underneath the truck until passersby helped lift it off and pull her from beneath it, Purcell said.

Chaffin was taken to University of Kentucky Chandler Hospital, where she was pronounced dead, he said.
