Jessamine County: Christmas Fest and parade is Saturday

The Annual St. “Nich” Christmas Fest will be 8 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. Saturday. A day of shopping, food and music in Nicholasville will be topped off with Santa’s Christmas parade on Main Street at 5 p.m.

Shoppers can find Christmas gifts downtown and at craft fairs at the Courthouse, Catalyst Christian Church and the Coolidge Building. Other features include: holiday story time, Christmas carolers, The Ugly Sweater 5K, ornament workshop, skaters waltz and more.

Hot chocolate will be served after the parade as guests wait to get a photo with Santa. A complete schedule of events is available at


Dress in your most outrageous holiday sweater and join in the Ugly Sweater 5K race at 4:30 p.m. Saturday. The entry fee is $20 and includes a commemorative t-shirt. Reduced entry fees for garland entries of families and groups. Awards will be presented to the top three male and top three female finishers, plus age group awards will be given. Special prizes for ugliest sweater, most holiday spirit and first garland to finish.

The Ninth Annual Wilmore Christmas Ball featuring the Metrognomes Big Band will be at 8:30 p.m. Saturday at the Wilmore Senior Community Center.

Wear your dressy attire and enjoy dancing, hors d’oeuvres, door prizes and music provided by a 17-piece big band. An optional swing dance lesson begins at 7:30 pm.
