Richmond: Richmond police were looking Sunday night for Mark D. Robinson, 48, for allegedly assaulting a police officer Saturday night.
Police said an officer went to the Country Hearth Inn at 10:40 p.m. Saturday to investigate the owner's complaint that Robinson, address unknown, had left the motel without paying his bill.
The motel owner pointed out the suspect's vehicle, which had stopped at the Clark Shell station on the eastern bypass.
When the officer walked to the vehicle, the suspect "accelerated abruptly," striking the officer's legs and the officer rolled onto the hood of the vehicle before falling to the ground. The officer was treated and released at Pattie A. Clay Regional Medical Center. Robinson faces charges of first-degree assault of an officer and theft.
