RICHMOND — A Berea man faces 12 years in prison after pleading guilty last week to possessing images of child pornography on a computer.
Norman Ben McCray, 73, entered a guilty plea to two counts of possession of matter portraying a sexual performance by a minor; each count involved possession of 27 images for a total of 54. He also pleaded guilty to one count of tampering with physical evidence.
Under a plea agreement, the recommended sentence will be five years on each of the first two counts and two years on the tampering charge, for a total of 12 years.
A previous count of first-degree sexual abuse was dismissed. McCray entered the plea on Thursday.
In court papers, McCray asked the judge to "consider mitigation of punishment at the time of sentence" in that by voluntarily pleading guilty "I have saved the government and the court the expense and inconvenience of a trial."
