A Madison County couple have been arrested in the beating death of their 7-month-old daughter.
Kentucky State Police said that when Serenity Dawes was brought to UK Chandler Medical Center on July 1, her parents said she had stopped breathing while at home with her father.
Doctors determined that Serenity had multiple injuries including a fractured skull, retinal hemorrhaging, a broken leg and bruising. She was placed on life support but died on July 2. After an autopsy, Serenity's father, William Leroy Dawes, 27, was arrested Monday and charged with murder. Her mother, Diana Dawes, 25, was charged with criminal abuse and complicity to murder. Both are being held in the Madison County Jail.
