A Richmond woman was charged with assault Thursday after she attacked an officer during an arrest, police said.
Treena M. Brazier, 44, kicked an officer in the chest as she was being placed in a police car and spat on the officer, Richmond police said in a release.
The incident happened at the 300 block of Big Hill Avenue, where officers were told that Brazier had refused to pay $40 owed to a taxi driver.
Brazier was "belligerent" and appeared to be drunk, police said. Officers determined there was an outstanding bench warrant for Brazier's arrest for failure to appear in court on a previous charge of disorderly conduct.
