A Richmond man has been charged with two counts of attempted murder after assaulting his grandparents, city police said Friday.
Eddie A. Rose II, 22, was charged after officers were called Thursday afternoon to a reported fight on the 1100 block of East Main Street. Officers found the injured grandparents in the street and arrested Rose.
A physical confrontation between Rose and his grandfather escalated, and Rose poured gasoline on the older man, then began looking for a lighter to ignite it, police said.
When his grandmother tried to intervene, Rose threw her against a moving vehicle on East Main Street and then stomped on her head several times, police said.

The grandmother suffered a fractured skull, a broken nose, a broken neck and bleeding in the brain, police said. She was transferred to University of Kentucky Chandler Hospital. Her condition was unavailable.
Rose was taken to the Madison County Detention Center in Richmond.
