Victim identified in I-75 crash in Madison County; mother, 2 children injured

A fiery two-vehicle collision Saturday night on Interstate 75 in Madison County killed a 41-year-old man and sent three others to the hospital, some with serious injuries.

According to the Fayette County coroner's office, Christopher Shawn "Cheerios" Truesdell was taken to University of Kentucky Chandler Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead at 1:28 a.m.

According to WKYT-TV, three people from the other vehicle — a mother and two children — also were taken to UK hospital. Their names were not released.

WKYT-TV reported that a car crossed a median and struck a van, which caught fire. Madison County sheriff's deputies who arrived on the scene said the driver of the van was still inside of the vehicle while it was burning.

Officials said the mother and a 12-year-old suffered life threatening injuries, while a 5-year-old was treated for minor injuries, according to WKYT-TV.

Authorities say the crash remained under investigation.

The crash, near mile marker 96, closed southbound I-75 for several hours Saturday night.
