Rescue-squad members in Madison County rescued a girl who was stuck in a creek Saturday afternoon.
Dan Kirstein, spokesman for the rescue squad, said the girl was standing in water up to her knees but couldn't move because her foot had gotten stuck.
Kirstein said the concern was that the girl could fall and be swept away or unable to get her head above water.
There was no danger of the water rising above the girl's head while she was standing, but the creek was higher and swifter than usual.
Someone with the girl had tossed an electrical cord to her for her to hang on to. Rescue squad Capt. Robert Mink waded to the girl, freed her foot and carried her to the bank, Kirstein said.
The girl was not injured, Kirstein said. Kirstein did not release her name or age.
The incident happened northeast of Richmond off Red House Road near Beaver Drive, Kirstein said.
