A man was found dead early Thursday morning just outside a Madison County middle school, Richmond police say.
According to a news release from Police Chief Larry Brock, an officer found the man lying in the grass near the baseball field at B. Michael Caudill Middle School about 5 a.m. Thursday. When the officer approached the man, he discovered that the man was dead.
RPD detectives and Madison County Coroner Jimmy Cornelison found no signs of trauma or injury that would have caused death and found no identification on the man's body.
His body was taken to the state medical examiner's office in Frankfort. The results of the autopsy are not expected to be available for about four weeks.
The man was identified but his name is being withheld until his family is notified.
The investigation is continuing.
