GEORGETOWN — A man who tried to break up an altercation between two of his relatives was shot in the back Thursday afternoon, Georgetown police said.
The shooting occurred inside a house at 330 Chambers Avenue and was reported to police about 1:55 p.m.
Two brothers and an uncle were involved, Georgetown police Capt. Scott Starns said. No names have been released.
One brother was arguing with his uncle when the other brother intervened, Starns said. Someone pulled out a pistol and the brother who tried to break up the fight was shot once in the back.

He was taken to University of Kentucky Hospital. His condition was not immediately available.
Starns said police do not think the victim was the target.
The uncle left the house in a vehicle after the shooting, but he was later arrested by police on an unrelated warrant, Starns said.
Police have recovered the pistol.
Starns said police don't know why the men were fighting, but there might have been a lingering dispute.
"We're just trying to sort out stories right now," Starns said.
