A Georgetown man was arrested Sunday after being indicted on two counts of murder in the death of a Lexington couple this summer.
Jeffery E. Bailey, 46, survived a head-on crash June 30 that killed Brian Way, 32, and Anna Hamilton, 29. According to the indictment, Bailey was "impaired by narcotic and depressant substances" when the wreck occurred.
The indictment was filed on Nov. 1 in Scott County Circuit Court. Investigators have said they were waiting for toxicology results.
The wreck occurred about 2 miles north of the Fayette County line on U.S. 25. Bailey, who was wearing a seat belt, was driving north in the southbound lane when his Ford pickup truck collided with a Toyota pickup driven by Way. Hamilton and Way were not wearing seat belts, police said.
Bailey was being held in the Scott County jail on a $100,393 bond. He is scheduled to be arraigned Dec. 3, the indictment said.
