A Stamping Ground man and woman were arrested and charged with receiving stolen property after six ceramic angel statues were found in their possession, according to court records.
The angel statues were from The Angel Garden at Scott County Park, which was built in honor of Ashley Lyons, 18, of Stamping Ground, who was killed by her boyfriend Roger McBeath Jr. in 2004. McBeath has been convicted and sentenced to 42 years in prison.
Stamping Ground police arrested Jennifer Dawn Saunier, 35, and Darrin R. Lawson, 24, on a warrant Tuesday.
Saunier was married to Ashley Lyons' uncle, Darrell Lyons, who was killed in a wreck on Frankfort Pike in Scott County in January, according to relatives.
Ashley Lyons' brother, Chris Lyons, said Lawson is Saunier's boyfriend. Chris Lyons said there was a family feud over Darrell Lyons' estate, over which Saunier has no control.
Chris Lyons said another relative told them about the stolen angels. He said the family later found that Ashley Lyons' grave site in Stamping Ground had been damaged. He said some concrete angels at the grave were broken.
"It's going to take quite a bit of time and money to fix," Chris Lyons said.
Saunier and Lawson, who could not be reached for comment Wednesday, admitted to having the angels in their possession, according to court records. They have not been charged with any other crimes.
