An Owenton man was listed in serious condition Wednesday at the University of Kentucky Hospital after his car collided with a truck carrying utility poles in Scott County.
The Scott County Sheriff's Department identified the victim as William Herzner, 48.
The crash occurred about 10 a.m. at Payne's Depot Road and the Georgetown Bypass, said Lt. Josh Hudnall, who is with the sheriff's department.
Hudnall said witnesses told investigators that Herzner, who was driving west on the bypass, apparently failed to stop at a red light. His car continued into the intersection and ran under the truck, which was northbound on Payne's Depot Road, Hudnall said.

Sgt. Josh Hutchison of the sheriff's department said the truck drove over the hood of Herzner's car, spinning it around. Herzner, who was not wearing a seat belt, was thrown out of the driver's window of his car by the impact, Hutchison said.
Hudnall said the impact caused some of the utility poles to partly come off the truck.
The driver of the truck was not injured, deputies said.
The crash remains under investigation.
