Scott County Sheriff Tony Hampton said Saturday that the death of a Hispanic man found in a creek near Georgetown has been ruled a homicide.
Hampton said police identified the man but are not releasing his name until his relatives can be located. Hampton said that theft of the man's pickup truck — a blue, four-door 2002 Chevy Avalanche with Kentucky license plate 214NAY— might have been behind the man's death. Anyone who sees the truck should contact local law enforcement immediately, Hampton said.
A fisherman found the body around 11 a.m. Friday in Elkhorn Creek near Stamping Ground Road. Deputies have been interviewing people who knew the man.
Hampton said he could not release the cause of death.
