An 18-year-old man was killed early Thursday morning when his car crashed in Scott County.

County Coroner John Goble identified the victim as Darly Morales of Versailles.

A 16-year-old Georgetown girl, who was a passenger in the car, was taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, Goble said.

The wreck occurred about 12:30 a.m. Thursday on Lisle Road.

Goble said the car was traveling at high speed when it left the road, hit an embankment and became airborne, striking a tree 30 feet above the ground.

Morales and the girl were ejected from the vehicle; the car landed on Morales, Goble said.

Speed and lack of seat belt use contributed to the crash and Morales' death, Goble said. Alcohol also could be a factor, pending toxicology results, he said.

Morales turned 18 two weeks ago, Goble said.
