Coroner identifies three who died in Versailles crash

Three people died Monday afternoon in a one-car crash on McCracken Pike in Woodford County, Versailles police said.

Amanda Tackett Reynolds, 19, who is believed to have been driving; her friend Heather Sutherland, 20; and Reynolds' niece Summer Evans, 8, all were pronounced dead at the scene, Woodford County Coroner Steve Ward said. He said none of them was wearing a seat belt. All lived in Woodford County.

Reynolds' infant daughter, Destiny Reynolds, was taken to the Kentucky Children's Hospital, where she was listed in critical condition late Monday night. She had been in a child safety seat.

Police were called to the crash, about 2 miles north of Versailles, at about 3:40 p.m. Lt. Daniel Clark said police suspect speed was a factor in the crash.

He said the vehicle, a Honda Accord, was heading away from Versailles when the driver ran off the right side of the road; overcorrected; and ran off the left side of the road. The car hit a mailbox set into large rocks and then careened through a plank fence, he said.

Blackburn & Ward Funeral Home in Versailles is handling arrangements for all three victims.
