A man working as a flagger on a road crew in Woodford County was killed about 9 a.m. Monday when he was struck by a car while standing in the eastbound lane of U.S. 421 as repairs were being made to a guardrail.
Kendale Ashby, 36, of Sharpsburg was taken to Georgetown, where Scott County Coroner John Goble said Ashby was pronounced dead at 10:50 a.m. He said the cause of death was blunt force trauma.
Lt. Daniel Clark of the Versailles Police Department, said no charges had been filed against the driver of the Toyota Corolla, whose name was not released.
Clark said the weather was clear and sunny, and there were no apparent problems with visibility at the time of the accident. An investigation would determine whether the driver was distracted and how fast the car was going, he said.
