Kentucky State Police are investigating an officer-involved shooting in Madison County.
The shooting happened just after 9 p.m. Tuesday, when a trooper responded to a domestic disturbance on General Nelson Drive, which is just south of Richmond, according to state police. A man was taken to University of Kentucky Chandler Hospital with life-threatening injuries. The officer was uninjured.
When the trooper arrived at the house on General Nelson Drive, the man who was reportedly involved in the disturbance was found in a vehicle, according to state police.
The initial investigation indicates the man drove the vehicle at the trooper, according to state police. The trooper then fired multiple shots, injuring the suspect.
The names of the trooper and the man who was injured have not been released.
State police continue to investigate the shooting.
