One man was killed and two other people were injured when gunfire erupted early Friday at a private party held in a commercial area, Nicholasville police said.
Mark Boguszewski, 27, of Jefferson County, died, Jessamine County Coroner Michael Hughes said. Boguszewski’s body was found in tall grass near Bonded Links, a former motorcycle clubhouse where a private party was held Thursday night into Friday morning, police Sgt. Scott Harvey said.
The two who were wounded were taken to University of Kentucky Chandler Hospital, Harvey said. He did not identify them or know their conditions.
The shooting was reported shortly before 2:30 a.m. Friday in the commercial area off U.S. 27 commonly known as “the drag strip” because it’s a former racing venue. The strip is home to various businesses, including auto body shops and used car lots.

The two victims who were wounded were found shortly after police arrived. Some minutes later the body of the Jefferson County man was found, Harvey said.
Bonded Links is rented by various groups for private functions, Harvey said. The party, “from what we can tell, was not associated with the motorcycle club,” Harvey said.
When officers arrived, people “were scattering everywhere,” Harvey said of the estimated 30 or so people who fled the scene. “We don’t blame them. I’d run, too, when people are shooting.
“We were trying to stop people from leaving so we could stop witnesses and potential suspects and interview people,” Harvey said.
Between 50 and 100 people were at the party, although Harvey said it was probably closer to 50. Some people in the parking lot outside the building hadn’t been invited to the private party, he said.
“The people inside don’t even know who was outside, so it’s difficult to piece everything together,” Harvey said.
Nearly six hours after the shooting, police didn’t know a motive and hadn’t made any arrests, he said.
Investigators hoped to collect and view surveillance camera footage from nearby businesses. They walked the scene and around markers indicating evidence.
Harvey said he wasn’t aware of previous problems or disturbances in and around Bonded Links.
