Lexington police are investigating a Sunday morning shooting that killed one man.

Officers were called to an apartment complex on the 2000 Alumni Drive block shortly before 9 a.m., said Lt. Jeremy Tuttle of Lexington Police. Tuttle said a woman was walking and spotted a male in a ditch area at the apartment complex. Police found the male, who was transported to a hospital for a serious injury from a gunshot wound.

The man later died, Fayette County Coroner Gary Ginn said in a news release issued late Sunday.

LEX 18 reported the apartment complex as Eastridge Apartments.

The report of the Sunday shooting came just hours after a Saturday night shooting at the 400 block of East Sixth Street.
