A Lexington man admitted to being drunk when he picked up his kids from school, according to police.
Eric Reed, 41, was involved in a collision and left the scene, according to court records.
When police caught up with Reed, the vehicle, with three small children in it, had the smell of alcohol. Reed told police he had driven to Wellington Elementary School on Keithshire Way to pick up his kids and was driving home.
Reed admitted to having an alcohol problem and failed three field sobriety tests, according to the court records. His blood-alcohol level was 0.337. In Kentucky, it’s illegal to drive with a level of .08 or higher.
He was charged with leaving the scene of an accident, wanton endangerment and driving under the influence.
