A man accused of kidnapping a woman in Danville is now sitting in a Georgia jail, according to the Boyle County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies got a report on Tuesday that a woman had been assaulted by a man outside a day-care center on East Main Street in Danville, according to the sheriff’s office. She told investigators that the man forced her into her minivan, threatened to kill her and made her drive away.
The suspect eventually switched seats with the woman and drove on U.S. 150 toward Stanford, according to the sheriff’s office. The woman said she then jumped from the minivan while it was still moving. She had several injuries and was taken to Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center for treatment.
Investigators identified the suspect as Kyle E. Smith, 22.
Wednesday afternoon, Smith was arrested in Lagrange, Ga., according to the Boyle County Sheriff’s Office. The minivan was also reportedly found in Georgia, but it had been burned.
Smith faces charges of kidnapping, theft of a vehicle and robbery.
