A man was killed early Tuesday morning when his car hit a pole on West Maxwell Street in Lexington.
Lazeric Deshaun Givens, 43, was pronounced dead about 3 a.m. at University of Kentucky Chandler Hospital, according to a news release from the Fayette County coroner's office.
Fire and police officials were called to West Maxwell and High streets, where a man was trapped in his vehicle.
Firefighters got Givens out. He was unconscious and unresponsive when he was taken to the hospital, fire department Maj. Lee Hayden said.
Police officials reconstructed the accident, Lt. Kevin Metcalf said. It was not yet clear whether speed or alcohol were factors.
The coroner's office did not release the victim's hometown.
