Lexington teen pleads not guilty to sexual assault charge

A Lexington teenager pleaded not guilty Wednesday to a charge alleging she sexually assaulted another teenager while working at a school.

Kayla Dawn Brown, 19, is charged with first-degree sexual abuse after she "subjected a minor child of 14 to sexual contact," according to Fayette District Court documents.

At the time of the offense, Brown was interning at the school, which is owned by a Fayette County church, the documents said.

Brown was released from the Fayette County jail on a $500 bond. As a part of her release she must live with her parents and not have contact with the 14-year-old. Brown is scheduled to appear in court Sept. 17 for a preliminary hearing.
