A Lexington man who died after stepping into the path of a tractor-trailer on Versailles Road committed suicide, according to investigators.
Rafael O. Rosas. 38, stepped in front of a truck in the inbound lane of Versailles Road just past Rice Road about 2:48 a.m. Tuesday, police said. The driver of the truck braked and swerved to the left, but Rosas kept walking across the road and was hit near the center line of the two inbound lanes, Lexington police Sgt. Scott May said.
Police said he walked into the road from a gravel driveway at 4478 Versailles Road.
Rosas was pronounced dead at the scene by the Fayette County coroner's office. He died of multiple blunt-force trauma, according to a news release from the coroner's office.

Friends and family told police that Rosas intentionally stepped into the truck's path, according to the news release.
The truck driver, who police did not identify, is from Chapmansboro, Tenn., and was not injured. May said alcohol and speed were not factors in the crash, and the driver will not face charges.
