Robbers invade Lexington home of sleeping mother, child

A mother and her young child were robbed at gunpoint early Friday, Lexington police said.

A woman in a home in the 1100 block of Lantern Creek Court told police she and her child were sleeping about 1:50 a.m. Friday when two men with handguns entered, Lexington police Sgt. Ann Gutierrez said.

The men demanded money, and the woman gave them an undisclosed amount of cash, Gutierrez said. The men fled on foot.

The suspects told the resident that they knew one of her family members, Gutierrez said.

Police were searching for the suspects. The resident described one of the suspects as a dark-skinned black male in his 20s, 6 feet tall, 220 pounds. He was wearing a bandana over his face and a dark sweater. The other man, who wore a black knit cap, was described as a light-skinned black male in his 20s, 5 foot 6 inches, 170 pounds.
