Twelve people in Magoffin and Johnson counties were charged in the past week in a "mini drug roundup" after a yearlong under cover investigation, Operation UNITE spokesman Dale Morton said.
Some were caught after undercover officers bought pills or marijuana from them, and some were caught after anonymous tips from other residents, Morton said. Eight others are suspected but have not been arrested, he said. The Magoffin County residents were arrested Aug. 11 and 12. The Johnson County arrests were Monday.
Arrested and charged with trafficking in a controlled substance were Alicia Fee, 24, and Ronald Fee, 43, of Hager Hill in Johnson County; and Efrmin Oscalo Garcia, 26; John Isaac, 43; Brenda Woodford Morgan, 47; Kenneth Morgan, 45; James Neil Rice, 38; Donny Risner, 47; and Ruth Shepherd, 48, all of Salyersville.
Chester Prater, 46, Salyersville, was charged with cultivating marijuana. Chester Dewayne Risner, 31, Gunlock, was charged with forging prescriptions and unauthorized procurement of a controlled substance.
Jimmy Jack Wireman, 29, of Salyersville was issued a criminal summons to answer a possession charge.
