An attempted murder charge against a Lexington man accused of shooting a man in Paris earlier this month has been amended to first-degree assault.
Roderick Hill, 22, appeared in district court for a hearing Wednesday in Bourbon County. Hill's case was waived to a grand jury after prosecutors recommended the charge be amended. Hill was arrested early Sept. 5 after Bryan Peyton, 35, of Paris was shot three times at Seventh and Main streets in Paris.
Peyton was treated and released from University of Kentucky Hospital.
Police said Hill fled the scene but he was arrested in another part of town shortly after the incident.
