A Lexington man was arrested Friday and charged with murder in the death of a teenager who was shot at a gas station last month, Lexington police said.
William S. Thornton, 23, was arrested on Osage Court in Lexington about two weeks after police obtained an arrest warrant for him.
Michael S. Hanley, 19, of Lexington was shot during an altercation Sept. 13 at the Shell station at New Circle Road and North Broadway. He died at University of Kentucky Hospital.
Hanley was hanging out with friends when they stopped at the gas station. He and his cousin went inside the store.

Hanley then was arguing with a stranger when the two left the store. They exchanged punches before Hanley was shot, according to Devin Clayton, 17, another cousin, who was waiting in the car at the gas station.
Clayton said she was napping Friday afternoon when her mother woke her with news about the arrest.
"I just want justice for Michael and his family," Clayton said.
She said no one knows why the two were fighting. But Clayton said she hopes more information comes out in court.
"I just want to know why," she said. "I was in the car and I don't know why."
Thornton is being held at the Fayette County jail.
