Richmond man charged in woman's stabbing at hotel

Richmond police have charged a man suspected in the stabbing of a woman at a motel on Sunday.

Don Potter Jr., 29, of Richmond was charged with first-degree assault and tampering with physical evidence, police said. Potter contacted police Tuesday afternoon and surrendered himself to an officer.

The woman was stabbed numerous times with a knife during the attack at Quality Quarters Motel in Richmond. The victim has not been identified, and her condition was not known Thursday.

Potter was being held at the Madison County jail on a $50,000 cash bond.
