Lexington murder case waived to grand jury

A man charged in the slaying of an acquaintance last week waived his case to the grand jury Wednesday morning.

Dedric J. Brown, 30, of Lexington is accused of fatally shooting Brannon Winn, 24, of Lexington, after the two had been involved in a fight in the area of Sixth and Toner streets Dec. 28.

Brown and witnesses had taken Winn to Good Samaritan Hospital, where he was pronounced dead a little after 1 a.m., police said. Officers also responded to a call from the hospital about the gunshot victim.

Winn died of a shot to the chest, according to the Fayette County Coroner's office.
