Murder case against Harrodsburg doctor awaits DNA test results

DANVILLE — Attorneys are awaiting the results of additional DNA testing in the case of Dr. Steven Hall, the Harrodsburg doctor accused of killing his wife on their 21st anniversary.

It might take several more months for the test results to come back from the state lab, defense attorney Greg Simms said after a status conference Tuesday in Boyle Circuit Court.

Hall has pleaded not guilty to murder in the death of his wife, Isabel, on May 29. State police say Steven Hall struck his wife with a pontoon boat on Herrington Lake. Hall has said it was an accident.

The DNA testing is for evidence taken from the boat.

Boyle Circuit Judge Darren Peckler scheduled a pretrial conference May 4, when a trial date might be set. Hall's defense attorneys have indicated they intend to seek a change of venue to move the trial outside of Boyle County.

Hall remains in the Boyle County jail in lieu of a $2 million bond.
