Richmond man charged in grocery store's armed robbery

A Richmond man was charged Monday in connection with the July armed robbery of a local grocery store, police said.

Kevin Todd McElroy, 28, was charged with first-degree armed robbery, police said.

Investigators say McElroy entered the Park-It Market, 100 Bradbury Pointe Drive, robbed the business owner at gunpoint and fled with an undisclosed amount of cash.

Police said McElroy was interviewed about the robbery on July 7, but he was not charged. On Monday, he was arrested at the police department after he appeared for an interview on an unrelated matter.

McElroy was being held in the Madison County jail.
