Cincinnati man indicted in fraud case

A Cincinnati man was indicted Thursday in federal court in Covington for allegedly defrauding his employer out of more than $83,000.

Brian K. Welling, the financial controller of Fortis Security Products, a financial institution security equipment provider based in Kenton County, is charged with 53 counts of wire fraud. Welling, 39, allegedly inflated the amount of pay he was due when providing financial information to a company that administered Fortis Security Products' payroll for two years from 2007 through 2009.

The indictment says Welling gave himself annual bonuses or profit-sharing money without authorization. If convicted, Welling could face up to 20 years in prison.
