A man was fatally shot Tuesday morning in Hueysville, and his uncle is charged with tampering with evidence and being a felon in possession of a handgun, Kentucky State Police said.
Michael Whitaker, 29, was found dead after a 911 call about 4 a.m. on Coolwater Creek in Floyd County.
The investigation is still pending. Whitaker's body was sent to the state medical examiner's office in Frankfort for autopsy, which investigators hope will help determine whether the shooting happened in self-defense, said Trooper Mike Goble.
Whitaker and his uncle, Russell Neeley, had an argument, police said in a news release.
Neeley was being held in the Floyd County jail on $1 million cash bond, jail officials said.
