Foul play ruled out in Anderson death investigation, police say

Foul play has been ruled out in the death investigation of an Anderson County man, Kentucky State Police said.

Richard Shamas, 53, was found dead by his wife in their Denney Drive home near Lawrenceburg early Wednesday morning, said Trooper Ron Turley of the state police. Two Anderson County deputies responded to a 911 call and arrived on the scene but later called state police.

State police initially said they were investigating a homicide. Turley said he could not discuss why that changed.

At this point, because it's still a death investigation, we don't want anything to get out about what we found," Turley said.

The state medical examiner's office conducted an autopsy on Thursday, but the preliminary investigation found no foul play, according to a news release from state police.

Investigators are awaiting a final autopsy report and toxicology results.
